Even in school, Carly’s favourite subjects were art and mathematics, which sounds contradictory, but actually, it’s the perfect blend of logic and creativity that informs the art of science of design. That led to a digital design course in university, covering a wide range of topics from graphic design, coding, games development, marketing, film and media production. Carly went on to work at a surf forecast startup followed by a stint at a global data company for sports fans. Since then, she’s worked at a full-service agency specialising in e-commerce where she got a real taste for all the different parts of a business, from search engine optimisation and social media to the bigger-picture digital strategy.
Carly believes that people ignore design that ignores people. Her work is always centred around user needs. She is fascinated by how people behave, especially when interacting with digital products.
