Clearleft sustainability policy

We are continually monitoring and attempting to reduce our impact on the environment, looking forwards to new and better ways of doing things.

We are in the process of establishing B Corp status and subscribe to the ‘triple bottom line’ concept of sustainability and the B-corp philosophy of continuous improvement.

Environmental

Reducing environmental damage to levels that can naturally be absorbed by nature.

The events we put on in the UK use local and sustainable products. We have solar panels installed on the roof of our studio. We promote the Cycle to Work scheme for all employees. We only buy what we need and recycle, or re-sell unwanted items and buy second hand products where available or appropriate.

We also consider the environmental impact of our potential clients and take that into consideration when deciding whether or not to work with them. Additionally, when creating websites or digital products for our clients we aim to minimise page weights to create as low a carbon impact as possible. This includes removing or optimising old fonts, decluttering and removing ‘filler’ images or videos that autoplay.

Social

Developing a healthy and fair local and global society.

We value our team and are ‘virtual first’ so that individuals can choose when to come into the office. This ensures a healthy work life balance and reduces the need for travel. We are active in supporting the local design community – regularly speaking at Wired Sussex community events or mentoring young people at organisations like Love Circular.

Financial

Creating sustainable business models and stable prosperous economies.

We aim to build a strong valuable brand, minimising debt and other liabilities. We treat all our suppliers fairly and pay on time. As such, we have an International ‘A’ grade credit rating, classed as ‘very low risk’.

As an Employee Owned Trust, every employee has a vested interest in this sustainability vision.
