At Clearleft, we occasionally work with clients right here in Brighton, but that’s the exception. More often than not, the clients are based in London, or somewhere else in the UK. In the case of Code for America, they’re based in San Francisco—that’s eight or nine timezones away (depending on the time of year).
It's that time of year again - the net magazine awards. And Clearleft has a strong showing
Sharing is caring, especially when it comes to front-end development in the age of responsive design. We're sharing the front-end style guide that we worked on for the Code for America project.
It’s been a quiet week at the Clearleft studio, with a lot of people out at meetings and events.
After last year's fantastic reinvention, we're very happy to be in the midst of preparations for this year's UX London. Andy's been busily booking up some brilliant speakers (of course), working hard to try and get a good balance of industry leaders, alongside new and innovative folk who he thinks our attendees will really like. So far the line up includes Daniel Burka, Erika Hall, Aza Raskin, Dan Hill, and Oliver Reichenstein, to name just a few, with more to be announced. Like last year, each day will be centred around a theme - for 2014 those will be Products for Day One, People for Day Two and Platforms for Day Three - with talks in the morning and workshops in the afternoon.
So, a couple of weeks into January and we're well into the swing of 2014 here at Clearleft HQ.
There’s a new event in town (“town” being Brighton). It’s called Connections and the first event takes place on February 4th.
Making a thing at Hackfarm. It's not finished, and probably never will be ...but it was a learning experience nonetheless.
For the most recent internship round, we wanted to try something a bit different. The result has been garnering some attention.
The last week of the year
At the start of October we took on a team graduate interns for a three month period to "design a product that turned an active digital behaviour into a passive one". Their internship finished today, so this is the story of the project, an introduction to what they created, and the lessons Clearleft learned along the way.
'Tis the season to buy UX London tickets.
It's been a busy week and we even managed to fit in our Christmas party in the middle.
Ant's quick overview of the Hackfarm 2013 experience- the structure, the projects, the whole shebang. If he comes across as slightly bewildered, do bear in mind it was the poor chap's first week on the job.
Ant Miller shares his thoughts on the EDO event "From Points to Pixels" at Central St Martins, which explored the experiences of two Creative Directors who span the print and digital worlds and are leading innovative work in their fields.
