Leeds Digital Festival is an exciting, month-long celebration of digital culture in all its forms. From cutting-edge technology to creative innovations, the festival offers a diverse range of events and activities, ensuring there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Its inclusive and collaborative nature made it the perfect opportunity for us to head up north and share our insights with the vibrant UX community. We were eager to contribute to the conversation and learn from fellow UX professionals through a hands-on workshop.
Having previously run this workshop at UX Scotland and our very own UX London, it was incredibly rewarding to bring it to a fresh group of UX researchers and designers at Leeds Digital Festival. Each time I run this session, I gain new perspectives, and Leeds was no exception. The input from this talented group was invaluable, sparking lively discussions and thought-provoking ideas.
The workshop focused on a critical issue: how we, as researchers and designers, can collaborate more effectively to ensure that the rich insights gathered during research make their way into the final design rather than being lost or overlooked. Too often, these insights get lost over the course of a project, and we explored ways to bridge the gap so that every piece of valuable information helps create user experiences that truly resonate.
It was an absolute pleasure to facilitate this session and engage in meaningful conversations with professionals from all corners of the UX world—whether they were experienced researchers, innovative designers, or those who blend the two disciplines seamlessly.
If you’re interested in this topic and fancy a bit of winter sunshine, I’ll be running the same workshop at the Wey Wey Web Conference in Malaga this November. It’s a fantastic opportunity to dive deeper into how research and design can come together to deliver outstanding user experiences.
In the coming days, we’ll also be releasing a comprehensive report on the gap between research and design. This report will highlight the findings from months of in-depth research, detailing the current challenges faced by researchers and designers and proposing actionable solutions to overcome them.
If you'd like to be among the first to receive a copy of the report, feel free to sign up. We promise that the only thing we’ll send you is this insightful report packed with strategies to help bridge the gap between research and design. Stay tuned!
