Universal Networks

Clearleft created a holistic user experience across five channels, while allowing each brand to exhibit its own individuality.

After the success of our Sci-Fi Channel redesign in early 2009, NBCUniversal called upon Clearleft to design websites for five new TV channels as part of the burgeoning Universal Networks brand.

Our job was to create a holistic user experience across all five channels, while allowing each brand to exhibit its own individuality.

We achieved this by combining a common platform architecture with a modular user experience. This was further enhanced by a flexible design language and componentized HTML/CSS template system. The result was a family of sites that shared a common user experience while exhibiting their own unique identities. This family of sites are scheduled to launch in 150 countries around the world over the coming months, with around 40 regional versions launched so far.
